Has anyone out there ever heard of a Hawkeye Truck Camper? MY Grandfather owned one and I used to camp in it as a kid and I was just curious. Thanks

RE: Electric jacks

You need to have the battery in to "Complete The Circuit"; I know this because my 6 year old told me so and now it works.

My jack dont work. I pulled the battery to charge it and my jacks are not working. Is there an inline fuse somewhere? My wife said they worked fine last weekend when she took the kids camping.

black water tank alarm

I own a 01 Fleetwood 11X and I am wondering if there is an alarm when the black water tank is full? The gauge on the wall that tells me what the tank levels are is not working properly; it reads fresh water but nothing else. Any suggestions? Thanks

I have an 01 11X that has speakers for a radio in it but no radio. Can anyone tell me where the radio should have been? There is no hole for one anywhere. Thanks

RE: thermostat???

Ok I owe you all some answers and I cannot seem to get my digital camera to cooperate with me today; so I will try to explain re-assembly.
1. shut off the gas and dis connect the power.
2. there were 4 screws holding my fridge in place in the front (2 top 2 bottom)
3. remove panel on outside and dis connect gas line and electricity (you might have to remove misc wires depending on model)
4. remove front curtian (slide window)
5. slide fridge out and I set it on the step up to the upper bunk
6. remove the sryrofoam insulation (one piece on each side); work with it and you can remove both in one piece
7. if you have a 3 way model remove the electrical mounts from the bottom board
8. cut away the caulking holding in the bottom board (watch the wiring)
9. pull caulking loose and now you have access to the jack mounting assembly and inner framework on the inside.
10. re-assemble in reverse order make sure you re-caulk appropriately
I would like to make a point as soon as you are re assembled do a thorough function check to ensure all systems run and you have no gas leaks and obviously if you have a gas leak get on it ad re-seal it. This really is not rocket science; but if you are not comfortable please let a professional do it for you.
Once again sorry about the pictures.
On my camper there is no special wood or ply wood; it is all stuff you can get at any hardware outlet. Feel free to upgrade the norm seems to be cheap, so I went with treated. Good luck and if I ever get this camera to work for me I will post my photos.

RE: thermostat???

Ok I started by taking the refrigerator out and realized I may have just got away with having to tighten the jack up and not do any major re construction. I will snap some photos during re assembly for you all to look at.

thermostat???

I took my boys out camping this weekend and I have a question about my heater thermostat. When I run the heater it does not warm the camper to the setting I chose on the dial. Do I need anew wall mount thermostat or is there a problem with the heater itself?
I am going to replace some wood rot under a jack this upcoming weekend. (Any advice?) I will take lots of pictures and get them posted for people to use in the future. Thanks

Thanks John appreciate it. I will (once I start) get lots of pictures and get them in here so that when others get into this they have some sort of reference to fly by.

RE: truck camper wood frame

I tore into the front (where the camper meets the truck bed) and replaced some of the rotten wood. All I really did was put a ban-daid on it until this winter. I really want to get to the wood under the jacks. What do I need to remove to get in there to remove do some more wood replacement?

Do you have a jet on your motor or a prop? What river systems are you looking at fishing? I live here and might be able to help you out.

tie down and leaks

Hi there,
I am interested in getting some opinions on tie downs before I go out and purchase some and has any one out there repaired a leaky front window? The leak is on the seam on the top (which I recently re caulked) I am wondering about what is under it. Thanks

water heater

Hello,
I just bought an 01 Fleetwood 11x and the water heater has a large hole in it. I was wondering if there is a way to by pass it while I search for a new water heater (or repair it)? I really dont worry about hot water so that is not an issue. Thanks
